Pebbles

Today Simon taught us a new math game called "Pebbles". This game will help us with our times tables. Next time you see us ask us how to play it.

Piet Mondrian Artwork

This morning we started our first round of modules. In art we are looking at famous artists and completing artworks inspired by them. Here is Snell working on their first attempt at some Piet Mondrian artwork. Mondrian was famous for only using the primary colours and black.

Oobleck

Check out the Oobleck that William made as part of his home learning. I know lots of others have made some too! 
Here's what William had to say about the Oobleck:

"I made Oobleck tonight.
I looked up on the internet and it says that when you push hard on Oobleck it forces the cornflour particles together. When you move slowly through the Oobleck the particles have time to move out of the way."

Swimming Sports 2017

We all had a great day at the Southbridge Swimming pool. Rachel and I were very impressed with the way students challenged themselves.

Today we watched a video from Hector's World that was about strong passwords. We then brainstormed what makes a strong password. What else do you think we could have included in our brainstorm?

Home-Learning for Weeks 4 & 5

Today your child will be bringing home their first home-learning sheet for the 2017 year. In class today we have gone over the tasks and expectations of the home-learning. You will notice that there is no compulsory spelling task - spelling will start in the next round of home-learning.
There are lots of exciting challenges to do over the fortnight - have lots of fun and enjoy learning!
Remember home-learning is due on Thursday 2 March. It must be completed.

World Read Aloud Day

Yesterday the whole school celebrated World Read Aloud Day by reading to each other and our buddies. Everyone loved it and it was a great way to celebrate the day!

School Triathlon

Well done Rakiura for putting in a huge effort and making the triathlon such a success. I was really impressed with the encouragement I heard from everybody and no one gave up! Awesome!

A Warm Welcome Back to 2017!

We have spent the first two weeks getting to know each other and have been discovering how we think and do things differently while working as a team.

We have enjoyed using the movie, Cool Runnings, to think about teamwork and thinking about how that might look in our class.
