Geologist Visit
Today we were very lucky to have Mr Pope come and talk to us about geology. We have been looking at rocks over the last couple of weeks in science so we were all very excited to have a real geologist come and talk to us.
Mr Pope talked to us about a geologist does, what's inside the Earth, what makes an earthquake, the Christchurch earthquakes and volcanoes.
Mr Pope had also brought along some rocks for us to look at and we shared some of our favourite rocks with him.
Thank you very much for coming and talking to us Mr Pope!

Mummification
Today we did an inquiry/drama lesson and we mummified a "human body". Whaea Bobbie had traced around her son Quaid twice. She then stuck the two bits together and stuffed the inside with shredded paper.
We then acted out the process of mummification. We pulled out the vital organs and put them in canopic jars. After that we stuck special items on our mummy for him to carry into the afterlife. We then wrapped our body in bandages. After that we painted PVA glue onto the bandages - this acted as the resin.
Next week we will build our mummy a sarcophagus.
